e.tv's long-running daily drama, which has been on air for 14 years, will gracefully bow out on 16 July 2021 and House of Zwide will take over the reigns and keep viewers entertained from the 19th of July.
‘House of Zwide’ is a new drama series produced by Bomb Productions and VideoVision Entertainment and when the show was announced, ZAlebs reported that two big names, Baby Cele and Lindani Nkosi, will be starring on the telenovela as Mr and Mrs Nkosi.
Well, the show's Instagram account has let us in on more names that have joined the show. In a countdown clip to the launch of the trailer (which will be released on Friday, 24 June) the legendary Vusi Kunene makes an appearance. You will remember that the much-loved television villian recently left Generations: The Legacy when his character, Jack Mabaso, died.
The snippet also shows other big names, such as Winnie Ntshaba - many loved her debut role Khethiwe on the defunct SABC1 8PM soap opera Generations. She also made a stellar performance on Mzansi Magic's The Herd and on Isithembiso.
House of Zwide is really out to deliver on it's promise to keep viewers glued to the show on Weekdays at 7PM. Uzalo's Khaya Dladla has also bagged a role on the new show. ZAlebs recently reported that the actor and radio presenter was allegedly snubbed by the SABC1 8:30PM drama series just weeks after his return.
Other actors include Isibaya's Blade (real name Jeffrey Sekele), Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo and Generations stars Zikhona Sodlaka and Paballo Mavundla.
House of Zwide is a rags-to-riches aspirational tale, embodied by the tagline: Your Dreams Are Valid, No Matter Your Age. With Executive Producer Desiree Markgraaff from Bomb Productions producing alongside Anant Singh's VideoVision Entertainment, House of Zwide promises to deliver on entertainment and keep viewers glued to their screens.
"The channel brings you a show of hopes and dreams to uplift and inspire viewers to believe they can achieve anything they put their minds to in a world filled with uncertainty and despair. As Bomb Productions and VideoVision Entertainment are well-known for authentic storytelling, it will come as no surprise when the show takes South Africa by storm," the channel's head of local productions, Helga Palmer, said in a statement.
Bomb Productions has had South Africans entertained for many years. One of their best television shows to date is still the much-talked about Yizo Yizo and Gaz'lam. Shows such as Zone 14 , Mzansi Magic's previously canned telenovelas Isibaya and Isithembiso are also products of the award-winning production company.
Videovision Entertainment has produced more than 80 feature films over the past 30 years. Among the company’s productions are some of the most profound films to have been produced in South Africa, including A Place Of Weeping, Cry The Beloved Country and Sarafina. Yesterday and Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom are also some of the films we've enjoyed, courtesy of the production company.
