Stained Glass, the production company behind Showmax's hit telenovela The Wife, recently bid farewell to one of its much-loved characters Bonko Khoza.

Bonko played the villainous, but charming Mqhele Zulu who falls in love with Hlomu. The actor left the show after two successful seasons. Although it will be a hard pill to swallow for avid watchers of the show to let go of Bonko's picture as Mqhele life goes on and, reports are emerging that the show has found his replacement.
According to Phil Mphela's Entertainment Alert, Uzalo actor Wiseman Mncube is replacing Bonko Khoza as Mqhele. "We have it on good authority and can reveal that Wiseman Mnucbe best known for playing the lead in the Mzansi Magic series eHostela is taking over the role of Mqhele Zulu," reports Entertainment Alert.
Wiseman has starred in numerous shows such as Gold Diggers, Uzalo, and Generations. There are sure to be fireworks in the new season of The Wife as viewers recently complained that the storyline was not following the book. According to Khanyi Mbau they took note of viewers concerns.
Confirming Bonko's departure from the show, Stained Glass Production said “We know fans are going to find it hard to let go of their picture of Mqhele as Bonko, just as they found it hard, when he was first cast, to let go of the bug-eyed Mqhele they had pictured from the book,” said series producer Kamogelo Aphane.

Bonko said it has amazing Mqhele for two seasons. “Having had the privilege to play Mqhele Zulu for two seasons, I realize I’ve taken the character as far as I can,” said Bonko.
He continued “I’m part of finding the perfect replacement and will be watching from the sidelines to support and offer advice where needed. I know that the actor who takes over will build from where I left off, so I’m looking forward to joining the 5 am club to see how the incredible love stories between the brothers and their wives play out this season. It’s not often that a show this powerful comes into the world, so we should continue to champion and encourage the talented people who will take us forward in S3.”
