Socializing is one of the hallmarks of the South African entertainment industry. Just ask the likes of Jen Su and Maps Maponyane who have been known to attend multiple events in one week without fail. The local social calendar kicks off pretty early, usually starting with the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate at Kenilworth Racecourse.
Described as one of the most stylish events on the Cape Town calendar, all guests are asked to comply with the blue and white dress code. The dress code is so serious that the organizers even hand out luxurious prizes to stylish winners in various categories, among which are the Best Dressed and Best Hat competitions.
As such, the organizers deploy what they call "spotters" who roam around the event, identifying and photographing potential winners.
This year, a trip for two to London, United Kingdom was up for grabs for the woman crowned Best Dressed Lady. The prize also includes a five night stay at a wonderful hotel during the British summer, and two tickets to attend the L’Ormarins Luncheon at the Qatar Glorious Goodwood Racing Festival on Friday, 3rd August 2018.
