It is no secret mental illness is one of the leading causes of death amongst young people. The death of Riky Rick and Patrick Shai recently sparked a whole conversation around mental health.

The veteran actor allegedly toook his own life on Saturday, 22 January. His wife discovered him dead in their garage in Dobsonville, according to reports.
Speaking at his funeral service his wife Masechaba Shai, encouraged her kids to mize whatever the world says about their father.

“My kids, don't take serious what people say about your father because you know him. He was no saint. I am not a saint and you are also not innocent but still, he was a human being. South Africa, let us forgive because God forgives all of us all the time.

“I am not an actor, I am realist. I am not a robot but a human being. I am not crying but crying for my kids and I don't know how are they going to recover from this. Patrick was like a child, he played a lot. I called him Ntwana," she said.

Shai was followed by Riky Rick who died at the age of 34 on February 23 2022. According to Sunday World the rapper committed suicide at his home. Additionally, the publication published a heartbreak suicide note for his wife Bianca and their children.

In the alleged suicide note, he apologized for being the one giving up and said the pain was too much, "The pain is too much. I don't want you to blame yourself for my life being unbearable. You gave me more love than I deserved. Live your life. Do not hide the light you have me every day.

I am sorry for being the one who gives up but the pain I feel is too much to deal with. The voices in my head have never gone away. I wish I was stronger, but I am not. Please forgive me. I love you."
