In the early hours of today, the late Award-winning rapper Riky Rick tweeted, "I’ll return a stronger man. This land is still my home," and a few hours later the news of his passing broke the internet sending shock waves all over the continent.
Fans have since taken to social media platforms to react to Riky's last message.
We love you my man; we did not listen to your loud whisper. We thought we still had time, and unfortunately, we are now too late to intervene. 💔💔💔 pic.twitter.com/9Tj5otfYwv
Meanwhile, fans and other celebrities have taken to social media to speculate on the cause of the late rapper's death and many are blaming cyberbullies.
Taking to Instagram, reality TV show star and the mother of the rapper and TV personality Boity Thulo, Modiehi Thulo penned a lengthy Instagram post following Riky's passing.
She spoke about the cyberbullying that Riky Rick faced a few days ago. Posting his picture, she wrote, "A few days ago, this boy was accused of being an abuser by social media… today, social media is full of RIP! What if what we said about him broke him, made him feel less than a human, made him feel judged, alone, and worthless?
"What if what we said triggered and pushed him to the edge? Yet we, as the people who are addicted to spewing hate and destroying people through our comments on social, are the ones saying RIP as if we didn’t contribute to whatever was eating and tearing him apart?"
She added that the trolls will understand the day that social media hate happens to one of their own.
"You’ll then learn that your evil comments, about people who are trying their best to get up in the morning to provide, to make ends meet and face yet another difficult life, on social media, are a cause of someone’s SUICIDE! Y’all need to heal from whatever broke y’all to take it out on people who don’t even know y’all! Hurt people, hurt people! Rest Makhado 💔💔💔😭"
Boity also went on a Twitter rant following Riky's death slamming the endless cyberbullying. She said it is sad that the bullying is still going to continue after the RIPs.
She added, "Cyber bullies will do everything it takes to push you to the edge. While everyone spectates & laughs. You’re causing genuine harm to another human being. Why the fuck is that cool?! Why is it tolerated!?!..."
