Eyewitness Shares Heartbreaking Details

Nellie Tembe‘s story is one of the most tragic and shocking deaths of the year and now that the dust has settled a few people who were on the scene are relating what they saw. According to IOL a security guard who was one of the first people on the scene said the following: 

“I thought it was a car crash and we went to look and at first we didn’t see anything, and then someone shouted that there was someone lying on the street,” 

“We went closer and saw a naked young woman, she was still breathing at that time.”

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst also had this to say:

“Medics assessed the patient who had sustained critical injuries and was treated on scene by an advanced life support paramedic. While stabilizing the patient her condition rapidly deteriorated and she was sadly declared deceased on the scene,”

The family has released a statement confirming the death.

On the statement, the family stated that they are still shocked by their daughters passing, the statement read: “It is with the deepest regret that we, the Tembe and Forbes Families confirm the untimely passing of our beloved fiancé, daughter-in-law, Anele Tembe (22). Anele tragically passed on in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 11 April 2021”

We are still in shock and dealing with our emotions, as she was an exceptional and gifted young woman, with so much life ahead of her, she had a sweet nature about her and was always nurturing to those around her.”

The family has also asked for privacy during their time of grieve

“Her Fiancé, Kiernan Forbes, is currently inconsolable and surrounded by family and closest friends. At this hour of our grief, we humbly request that our families be given privacy and time to heal”

The Cape Town central police are investigating an inquest case following this incident.

News surrounding Nelli’s passing started circulating on social media after entertainment reporter Phil Mphela tweeted: “I can confirm that rapper AKA’s fiancée Nellie was involved in a fatal incident in Capetown. The rapper’s management is not at liberty to share any further details and has requested that we give the family time to deal with the shock. I’m told AKA is grief-stricken.”

The news of her passing sent shockwaves on social media, here are some of the reactions.

UPDATE: Official statement from Tembe & Forbes family

Anele Nellie Tembe, who was engaged to popular rapper Keirnan AKA Forbes, passed away this morning.

Nelly was engaged to the South African multi-award-winning rapper AKA, she  announced the news of her engagement to AKA last month. she posted a picture of her left hand showing off a stunning diamond ring on Instagram with a caption: “21/02/21- on this day I said YES to the love of my life & best friend. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to be your life partner, even through the highs and lows you have always stood by me and I thank you Kiernan Jarryd Forbes for loving me wholeheartedly and never giving upon us. Cheers to the beginning of forever. 4L boo.”
