Bridget Masinga has left the building! After four years at Kaya FM, the presenter is moving on to pastures anew.

We knew this week was going to be filled with unexpected updates but even this has taken us by surprise. A statement sent straight to our inboxes has confirmed that popular radio presenter Bridget Masinga has agreed to leave Kaya FM and will be off air from the end of January.

In a statement that was delivered to ZAlebs on Monday morning, Kaya FM's PR team confirmed her departure by writing,  "After almost four years on the Home of the Afropolitan, Kaya FM bids farewell to Bridget Masinga effective from the end of January 2020. Masinga who started her career on YFM is currently one of the most recognizable voices on the airwaves"

The station's Chief Content Officer, Neil Johnson beamed with pride as he reflected on Bridget's journey at the station. He hailed her experience and talents by saying, “With an extensive career in radio, Bridget has contributed largely to our vision as a station with a show that has grown to truly epitomize the Afropolitan lifestyle. We wish her the best in all her future endeavours which will be nothing short of fantastic, "

Bridget also confirmed her departure on social media, moments after the statement was released.

The multi-faceted presenter originally joined in 2016 where she hosted an arts-themed show before growing both in stature and prominence until she found herself hosting The B-Side.

No word on her replacement has been confirmed at the time of writing, but Kaya FM mentioned in their statement that they will look to have her successor ready to broadcast from March 2020.

The writing had been on the wall for some time for Bridget. Her fans and listeners were growing unhappy with her content and they weren't shy to voice their concerns on social media.

Despite this, we are certain that Bridget will continue to forge a successful media and broadcasting career.
