Arthur Mafokate is the son of Olympic equestrian athlete Enos Mafokate, and was born in Soweto. He is a fantastic kwaito musician releasing hit after hit and even being a back up dancer early in his career to artists such as Brenda Fassie. Arthur is also the founder of his own music label, the 999 Music Label. It is definitely obvious why he is crowned as the King of Kwaito.

Arthur Mafokate was born on 10 July 1962 in Soweto, Gauteng Province, South Africa. As of 2022, he is 60 years old. 

Although not much is known about the nature of his childhood years, it is documented that he had a brother named Oupa Mafokate who died by suicide. His father is Enos Mafokate and his mother’s identity remains unknown.

Arthur Mafokate’s Career

Arthur Mafokate released his first song Kaffir in 1995. It became a hit due to its political nature. 

Two years later, he dropped a club banger Oyi Oyi and followed it up with Yiyo Lendawo in 2000. 

Throughout his career, he has produced several hits and memorable albums which is why he is one of the most recognisable Kwaito musicians in Mzansi. 

Some of the albums he’s produced include Kommander, Mamarela, Kaffir, Oyi Oyi and Vanilla & Dark Chocolate. Some of his best-selling songs include Nguye Lo, Hlokoloza and Sika Lekhekhe

That said, he has affairs with different women and sired four children - Arthur Jnr, his first daughter Owami born in 2002, Kellelo and Onalenna born in 2005 and 2011.

It’s not possible to ascertain the number of women he has dated but three of them were high-profile relationships. 

The first theme was with Queen Iyaya, a budding music star who was part of his label, Arthur Mafokate’s 999 Music. 

Arthur’s relationship with Queen Iyaya produced his first daughter. Afterwards, the two broke up and after an intense custody battle, the Kwaito singer was granted full custody.

He went on and dated another woman from his label. This time, it was a singer and dancer by the name Chomee, real name Thulisile Madihlaba. Arthur and her newly found love had a 20-year age difference between them.

However, his second relationship ended like his first. Chiomee broke up with him in 2017 but this was more amicable.

His third relationship followed a similar pattern. Busiswa ‘Cici’ Twala was his woman. Things seemed to be going on fairly well until Cici accused him of sexual and physical assault. 

The two cohabited and after the split, Cici said she returned to his mansion in Midrand to return the key to his car and he turned on her.

She claimed that Arthur’s physical assault led to the breakage of her pelvic bones and a long stay in the hospital. 

The signer was arrested but released on bail. During the hearing, Cici claimed she was pregnant but aborted their child. Eventually, the court ruled in favour of Arthur. 

Currently, Arthur Mafokate is believed to be single.
