However, in recent times, the recording artist turned businessman has faced some disrepute after he was accused of corruption through his non-profit organisation (NPO). As reported at the time:

The SIU Twitter account has now become a whistleblower for ZAlebs that are alleged to have been involved in corruption scandals well worth around the ten-millions of rands. As such, the latest ZAlebs to have been linked to yet another National Lottery Commission (NLC) corruption scandal is none other than Mafokate. Details on the allegations are shared as:

The SIU investigations in the affairs of the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) have revealed that five non-profit organisations (NPO) received grant funding of approximately R56,3 million for community development projects in South Africa.

As such, the report confirmed that it has gotten an order allowing the unit to “freeze three luxury properties, a plot, and a portion of a farm that are linked to the syphoning of lotteries grant funding meant for community development projects.”

But it would seem that Mafokate is a cat with nine lives when it comes to his various appointments on NPO boards following his recent announcement.

It seems that the fact that Mafokate has rubbished allegations of his involvement in the R56.3 NLC corruption scandal is enough to garner him support to nab yet another appointment.

Specifically, this comes as he took to social media to celebrate being appointed as the Chairperson of the Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA).
A description of the organisation is shared as:

“Our Vision is to be a leading African and reliable national shield for cultural and creative organisations and cultural and creative professional practitioners a creator of economic growth and sustainable jobs in South Africa.”

Adding that:

“We have both full-time and associate member organisations of CCFISA, we continue to encourage all legal structures that represent both creative and cultural practitioners to join the organisation.”

Not surprisingly, social media has shared their bombastic side-eye at the appointment given the recent accusations of his wrongdoing.
