Uzalo character Khathaza has been so convincing that the real-life actor behind the role, Sibonile Ngubane, was left feeling unwelcome at his own church!

Actor, Sibonile Ngubane is in a jam with his fellow congregants at the Nazareth Baptist Church, for his portrayal of the evil portrayal of his character Khathaza on SABC 1's Uzalo.

Sibonile has skillfully brought life to the enigmatic character of Khathaza Hlongwane on Uzalo and his acting has had a tremendous impact.

Initially, this mysterious role made for pleasant viewing, but just like any development of a character, Khathaza was just waiting for the right time to unpack his character's dark dark storyline.

A few weeks prior to his exit on Uzalo, Khathaza was on a disturbing mission to murder women that closely resembled his wife, MaNgcobo. This was an attempt to avenge his brother's death, Steleka. MaNgcobo is responsible for the murder of Steleka.

This final unveiling of Sibonile's on-screen character has apparently left a not-so-appetising taste in the mouths of his fellow congregants at the Shembe Church; especially the female church-goers. They fear that they might be met with the same brutal fate of being murdered by 'Khathaza' as he did with those women on Uzalo.

According to Sunday Sun, a large number of congregants are having a hard time separating Sibonile's off screen persona to that of his on screen character.

One of the sources that spoke to the publication, said the following:

"We're afraid he could get hurt because of the misunderstanding. He always tries to explain that Khathaza is a character but some church members don't understand. It's dangerous for Sibonile."

The man in question is surprisingly taking the entire episode in his stride. When called for comment, Sibonile Ngubane said:

"This role came with a lot of challenges. But I'm glad some people don't quite get it. When they see the real me, they get scared because of how good I played my character. "
