Following Afrotainement dancer, Nhlanhla ‘Sgaqa’ Chiliza's arrest on charges of rape last Friday, the dancer pleaded not guilty and his record label has finally broken their silence on the case by releasing an official statement addressing the rape allegations made against him.
Afrotainment boss, DJ Tira released an official statement expressing the companies standpoint on the allegations made by putting up a disclaimer saying that the record company does not stand by any form of abuse of any human being, however, will be supporting Chiliza until the court reaches a verdict.
“Afrotainment would like to express to members of the public, family of the alleged victim, and the press, that Afrotainment does NOT, condone, promote or support any abuse of another human being…”
The record company went on to assure the public that the accused had availed himself for the procedures needed for the investigation.
"In a recent case against one of our dancers, we would like to say the following: Nhlanhla ‘Sgaqa’ Chiliza handed himself to the police once he was aware of a charge laid against him and made himself available for any testing the investigators required."
The record label went on to add that they were supporting the dancer based on the character that he has displayed since knowing him, and were waiting to hear the court's verdict after the investigations have been made.
“As long as we have known him, he has been an upstanding member of the community, who works hard towards the improvement of his neighbourhood and that of his community and has done outreach projects in his community. I’m sure if one of your family was accused of something like this you would support them and wait on the evidence, police procedure and courts to determine what the truth is. We ask the public to lease to the same.”
