Mzansi's veteran actress Nthati Moshesh, is no stranger to our Television screens. Having been in the acting business for several years now, Nthati has unwaveringly held the torch high up for the incoming batch of actors in the industry.

The actress cemented her place in the hearts of many South Africans, when she scored the character of a businesswoman in Home Affairs, and the role has since redeemed her career to even greater heights

Nthati recently bagged a hit role on the highly anticipated BET original drama series Isono. The drama tells a gripping tale about the secrets we hide and the many faces we wear.

Isono features a star-studded cast including the likes of Rami Chuene, Bohang Moeko, Anga 'Naakmusiq' Makhubalo and Senzo Radebe to mention a few.

Ahead of the much-anticipated premiere of the show ZAlebs caught up with the actress as she shared deets on her character Mary.

"The drama will showcase the daily trial and tribulations that the public goes through, it will focus on issues like drug abuse and GBV. It  brings to audiences the suspense and intrigue of the dual, the things we reveal about ourselves and the things that make people wonder: “what are you hiding?" she says

Nthati says she is grateful to be part of the cast, and she hopes viewers will resonate with her role.

"I am extremely excited  honoured  to be part of Isono as the first daily drama on BET Africa, The role of Mother Mary, has taken me out of my comfort zone, it’s a pager turner I am hoping for the audience and viewers at home will find this original daily drama to be gripping and intriguing"

In a trailer shared by the channel, it is evident that her character is intriguing, and it will have many on the edge of their collective seats. Speaking about her character she says.

"Mary is the devil in Sunday Hat, she is a philanthropist and a Mother of the nation, who takes care of abandoned and orphaned children on the other hand Mary will order a murder without blinking."
The actress says viewers can expect a lot of suspense and intrigue from the show. Asked how this different this character is from the rest she has played she says.
 "I have played the role of Mmasabata and Mmamohato before, but they didn’t go to Mary’s level, Mother Mary will do whatever it takes to protect her cubs, she will remove whatever obstacle that may come her way," she says.

Speaking about her growth in the industry she says it has been amazing and seeing woman winning makes her happy
"It is great to see women in leading roles, women are the biggest viewers of television and biggest consumers of television. It’s great to see the narrative change to women led roles.
 
"I am connecting really well with the amazing young and talented cast on set, working with young talent like Didi and Bohang on set has been amazing I am seeing a younger me in Didi," she added.
Catch Isono as it premiers on Monday 28 September, at 21:30 on BET Africa (Dstv channel 129)
