It still amazes many how relevant he has remained in the mainstream music scene. But earlier in the year, fans of the Be Careful What You Wish For collaborator might be calling it quits on music. This is as he removed all his music from mainstream digital streaming platforms. A move which was believed to be the final evolution in his mythical “electronic bushman” era.

However, he revealed that was just a move to attempt to coerce his fans to NFTs, as he made his album and then new single Punisherz available via NFT. But it seems that his attempt was a fail as he returned to mainstream forms of releasing music with his latest polarising new single.

Anatii's return to mainstream releases causes a stir

On Tuesday, 8 November 2022, with no formal announcement, Apple Music, Spotify and other mainstream DSPs  were revealed to have seen the comeback of Anatii’s music on the platforms following his initial decision to remove his music catalogues from every DSP.

Following the availability of his music catalogue. Anatii followed that with his sophomore single for the year titled Amadlozi, featuring new talent Lookatups. The song is still very much in his Iyeza pocket, however without the depth in sonics which the album which had hits like Thixo Onofefe and Ntloni had.
As such, fans were quite polarised about the actual single. There were fans who believed that the single did not deserve to be a lead single for a man looking for a comeback into the mainstream. However, there were others that believed that the single made for an impressive comeback single.

But more than the music, fans were more disappointed in the lack of effort Anatii is putting into his promotional rollout. Despite his confusing, and brave moves depending on who you are asking, the musician has yet to set the record straight on anything as he does not conduct interviews or share any type of think pieces on his work or moves in music.

All fans have to go with is information shared by his rumoured girlfriend, actress and businesswoman Pearl Thusi. It seems as Anatii said he would not do any of his marketing, Thusi said she would help her man by drumming it up for him. This is as the Queen Sono lead was the one to share the availability of Anatii’s music catalogue’s return to DSPs.

Moreover, she spearheaded the promotion of his new single as it seems she only returns to Twitter when either defending her best friend, DJ Zinhe or showing public love for her alleged beau. Too bad they are not as giving on the socials as Miss Thusi.
