Babes Wodumo's father, Reverend Welcome Simelane, says he is done trying to get involved in his daughter’s relationship with her allegedly abusive boyfriend Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo.

Speaking to the Sowetan Live this week, Simelane said: "The only problem I had with him was that he was hitting and abusing my child. and I told him to stop. She is an adult and she can do as she pleases.”

Earlier this year Babes and Mampinstha were involved in a domestic dispute, with Babes claiming her loverboy was physically abusing her.  In February, Mampintsha received major backlash on social media after the video of him hitting Babes was posted on her Instagram account. At the time, Babes said she had left Mampintsha and laid charges. Maphumulo laid countercharges of assault against Babes.

Then Babes took to Twitter to claim that her Instagram account had been hacked by Mampintsha, who allegedly used it to comment on his posts as if it was Babes. The couple has since reconciled, sharing loved-up snaps on social media. The charges were withdrawn after the couple attended mediation sessions through Families SA.

From court cases to baby rumours, in June Babes hinted that she was pregnant when she shared a photo of herself kissing her on-again, off-again boyfriend and captioned the Instagram post: "Baby daddy."

Many have expressed the disappointment about Babes reconciling with her boyfriend.

Daddy dearest does seem heartbroken though. He went on to say he will only focus on his wife and church and that the fake Bonnie and Clyde duo is not a priority in his life.

The pair have released songs together to try to take the sting out of the alleged assault but fans still have serious trust issues.
