Bonang made a shocking announcement in 2021 when she revealed that her relationship with CSA Global, had come to an abrupt stop, citing possible criminal conduct as the cause.
Many were still left in the dark as to what could that possible be, but when her House Of BNG legal battle came to light, the picture started getting a bit clear. Speaking to Drum, Bonang said although she cannot divulge too much about the matter, the wine brand is doing well.
“There was and still is a huge legal battle around BNG that is still ongoing. I can’t say too much because the matter is sub judice. But BNG is here, doing well. It is my brand; my heart and soul and we are launching something major. There will come a time when I will explain what exactly happened to me and people need to learn from it. It’s a lesson I learned and it’s a mistake that anyone can make and because we trust people, we end up in complicated situations,” she told the paper.
Surprisingly, COVID-19 made her come to the realisation that something fishy was indeed happening, “Which is why I am so grateful for Covid-19. It made me stop and see people for who they are. Had there not been a pandemic, I would not have stopped to see what was happening, so I am grateful for the lessons. When I eventually say, people will be surprised.”
Bonang continues to work hard to grow BNG and said a new flavour will be announced soon.
“Every year, we like to bring a new flavour to the people who have supported us... I am also announcing another project very soon.”
Bonang might be back home for the moment, but she said she will be returning to New York in a couple of days. She said the reason she moved to the Big Apple is because she feels as though she has done it all in mzansi and so wants to expand her horizon.
“I always wanted to challenge myself when I felt I had reached the roof at home. I wanted to see what was out there. In terms of business and live productions, it doesn’t get bigger than the Miss SA pageant, SAMAs, Metros, and the Sports Awards which I have all done and there isn’t anything left for me to do, and the next step was to either go international or remain in the same place without growth. The next step was for me to see the world and where I can go,” she says.
Look out for Queen B's next projects because she promises people's jaws will drop once she announces them.
CSA Global had released a statement to Channel24 saying Bonang joined CSA in 2017 and House Of BNG was launched in 2019.
"Not only has CSA invested in this venture but we have been significantly instrumental in developing and creating the brand, from the actual naming convention to the route to market, packaging, innovation (MCC, Prestige and coming up with the concept of BNG Nectar - the sparkling wine in a can), the distribution strategy (in which we secured listings in key retailers), creation of the brand CI and the securing of all event partnerships," claims the company.
