Many took offence and South African black twitter started calling her names, before American Twitter took over.
Phat Joe also jumped in on the debacle when the topic of his morning show on Radio 2000 was 'have you ever been criticised by someone beneath you.' That also caused a huge stir and people took that as a direct diss to Anele.
But before that, someone else who shaded Anele right before American Twitter caught on was Queen B, who tweeted: "Finish her" with a shades-on emoji. Naturally, her fans immediately assumed that Bonang was directing at Anele.
Some were against Bonang's tweet, saying she is adding fuel to the fire.

After all is said and done, it seems as though the bashing and name-calling does not bother Anele, as she continued to show thick skin throughout the whole mess.
She even commented on how American twitter is weak compared to SA twitter when it comes to roasts; saying their poverty jokes were stale and outdated.
