The news of Citi Lyts' death rocked social media as he apparently got shot 8 times during a hijacking last night in Soweto. This according to DJ C-LIVE and many other artists who confirmed his tragic death.

Citi Lyts was signed under Ambitiouz Entertainment and gave us timeless hits such as Malambane, Washa, Shishiliza and of course the ever so popular Vura.

He worked with many great artists such as Emtee, Sjava, Fifi Cooper, Benchmarq and Saudi, as well as many others.

Tributes have been pouring in for the young Hip Hop artist.

Apart from his amazing talent, what many people do not know about Citi Lyts is that he is actually brothers with the late Pro Kid, real name Linda Mkhize.

In an interview with Drum, months after his brother's passing, Citi Lyts was left shell shocked of the way he passed away. Pro died from a bleeding pancreas and was found dead in his girlfriend's apartment. Rumours swirled that he had died of a drug overdose and that he was drunk. This did not help the family's grieving process at all.

Speaking to the publication, Citi Lytes said they had been working on their very first song together but he unfortunately met his demise.

He then later dedicated a song titled Cel'ukuthi which is vernac for 'May I Please Say.'

โ€œCelโ€™Ukuthi is a party song, sort of like an after-tears celebration by artists who were influenced by big bro," he explained to the publication.

He said his death really took some time for him to accept, โ€œIโ€™m still going through a lot. I shared so many special moments with my bother and we had so many plans. Iโ€™m trying to accept it, but the pain wonโ€™t go away,โ€ he said to the paper.

Speaking of the rumours which hurt him and his family, he said people accused him of splurging his brothers money recklessly.

โ€œThey said I inherited his money and was spending it recklessly and that he died in the arms of his side chick, Mandisa Mbanjwa, but I donโ€™t know any of that.:

What was most painful though about his brother's death was that they had not seen each other for a month.

โ€œWe both had busy schedules and I was preparing to leave Ambitiouz Entertainment to be an independent artist. Iโ€™m sad I didnโ€™t get to spend time with him in the last month of his life,โ€ he explained. โ€œI thought of many things, but I didnโ€™t think he was dead. There was vomit all around the bed. I was too late โ€“ he was already gone.โ€

One thing Citi Lytes believes is that his friends who went partying with Pro Kid had some blame because they did not help him in any way.

โ€œI was upset that his friends were chilling with him and they knew he was sick but didnโ€™t take him to the doctor. They just went out and didnโ€™t check up on him,โ€ he says, shaking his head.

Rest easy Sandile Mkhize!
