After being quiet for some time, the Distruction Boyz have come out the woodwork to announce their split!
The award-winning duo who had the nation on its feet with the hit song Omunye told Sunday Sun that they are both pursuing solo careers.
One half of the duo, Zipho "Goldmax" Mthembu spoke to Sunday Sun and said: “There is no bad blood between us, it’s just that we’re focusing on our solo careers.”
The other member of the group, Thobani "Que" Mgobhozi, confirmed this saying there are no bad vibes about their split.
One source revealed that not all are as well as the two have made it out to be.
It is said that they realised that they were very different, they no longer shared the same vision for the future and the same style of music.
However, the duo did eventually make their comeback back in 2022. A fact which was celebrated as it suggested that other recently broken-up duos like Black Motion can in the future reconcile and work together again. However, their reunion was short-lived in light of their recent announcement.
Distruction Boyz announce splitting again
While the country was focused on the alleged split of the Amapiano duo, Amaroto, it seems that Distruction Boyz used the juror to slide in their own separation announcement. This is as they took to their social media accounts to assert that:
“Members of the Gqom community, thank you for supporting us over the years! Allow us to take a break from being the Distruction Boyz /top-of-the/amaroto-split-upduo you all love so that we can concentrate on our solo careers for a bit.”
But the duo confirmed that before going their individual journeys musically, they are set to perform one last joint set at the first Cotton Fest since the passing of founder Riky Rick.
As such, this Cotton Fest is the site of many confirmed and unconfirmed splits. This is in light of the confirmation of whether or not Amaroto is still a thing will be done on the Cotton Fest stage. As reported:

On Saturday, 4 February 2023, Cotton Fest is set to host the first concert that was planned without the influence or guidance of late rapper and presumed founder of the festival Riky Rick. This is as his untimely passing back in 2022 when he took his life after his long battle with mental health.
As such, the festival which aims to bring Amapiano and Hip-Hop together in one venue has a line-up that includes Amaroto. A fact which in light of the rumours of the split between Reece and Zuma has provided hope that if the two do appear on stage together, it will confirm that the split was all speculation and was entirely unfounded.
