We can now confirm that from the first of August 2019, DJ Fresh's voice will be back on the airwaves after the presenter was announced as the newest member of the 947 family.
It took less than a month for DJ Fresh to find himself a new home after being unceremoniously fired from Metro FM, but the Big Dawg is heading back to the airwaves after finding himself a new home. In one of the most controversial stories of the year so far, DJ Fresh was fired from Metro FM following a 3-week suspension for allegedly swearing on air.
Although the BCCSA claimed that Fresh's swear words, while inappropriate, did not deserve such harsh punishment, Metro decided that the appropriate action to take was to axe the radio legend. As disappointed as many South Africans were with the decision, Fresh himself claimed that he couldn't be happier after ridding his back of the weight of a troublesome "monkey".
He also confirmed that a new adventure would be kicking off on the 1st of August; something we were all in the dark about until Monday morning when DJ Fresh himself confirmed his newest appointment with a brilliant announcement video. Take a look below:
Those who have followed the story will be aware that 947 has been trying to recruit DJ Fresh for some time now. After over two years of pursuing him, it looks as if the station finally got their man. 947's station manager, Thando Makunga, led the way in expressing his excitement at the new appointment when he said,

" DJ Fresh has been in the game for more than twenty years, and as far as radio heavyweights go, he ranks amongst the best. Fresh loves Joburg as much as we do, and we look forward to welcoming the Big Dawg to 947."
Meanwhile, DJ Fresh himself couldn't have been more delighted at his new opportunity. The Big Dawg said,
"I look forward to engaging with my loyal following at my new home, 947. I started my radio career as an afternoon drive presenter and look forward to joining 947 for my new show, in this new timeslot. Listeners can expect good music, comedy and lively debate on the trending issues of the day. If you love 947, the Big Dawg loves you!"
Once news that DJ Fresh was joining 947 broke, the hashtag #FreshOn947 shot up the Twitter trends list as the presenter's loyal fans rejoiced his return to the airwaves.
While all this has been happening, it looks as if DJ Fresh's former employers, Metro FM might have already found his replacement. Something tells us he's not too fazed by this though.
