Drum magazine has revealed that Bongi, who was also co-producer of the soapie, has quit her job but won’t say why.
‘I’m not ready to divulge the reason for my resignation but I’m leaving – and it’s not to join another company,” a cagey Bongi told the publication.
But, as the mother of sacked actor Thato Molamu’s son, it’s not unfeasible to think that working for the man who fired her boyfriend might be a bone of contention within her relationship, and possibly part of the reason why she resigned.
Thato Molamu, who played the role of Nicholas Nomvete in Generations, was among the sixteen main cast members whose contracts with the soapie were cancelled after they went on strike to protest their rates and the conditions of their contracts.
Meanwhile, Drum has also revealed that Skeem Saam will replace Generations for two months, this as Mfundi Vundla works furiously to create and write what is being dubbed the ‘new Generations’.
According to the magazine, ‘Skeep Saam’ will replace ‘Generations’ in its 8pm weekday slot on SABC1 from Wednesday, 1 October.
