It has been suggested that she is a gold digger, a skin bleacher, and even a bad mother, but she calls herself the queen of Sandton, she claims money loves her and her soul can never be tarnished. How could anyone possibly call Khanyi anything she hasn’t been called yet? Well, Showmax and Comedy Central believe that the panellist released yesterday can have a try.
It is official, the Comedy Central Roast of Khanyi Mbau is premiering on our small screens on Monday the 8th of August 2022 exclusive to the digital streaming platform Showmax. This is the 5th South African celebrity roast and the first one with a female roastee and who better than Khanyi Mbau to have the honour.

On their first announcement, Comedy Central and Showmax shared a clip of the media personality in a bathtub with roast master Mpho Popps.
Taking to social media, Comedy Central posted a video announcement of the roast master.
In the clip, Khanyi Mbau is seen sitting in a bathtub – similar to a previous teaser – in which she roasts the roast master himself. In the video, Khanyi asks, “Who can roast Khanyi Mbau?” before rattling off on a long list of demands she expects from the show. The camera then pans to a meek-looking Mpho Popps. “Anything you want Khanyi”, he responds sheepishly.
Sharing the news on Instagram, he posted: “Sure the queen may have instructions but trust this roast master is here to deliver for you on the Comedy Central roast”.Organizers of the Roast both at Showmax and Comedy Central Africa believed that it would take a larger-than-life comic to be at the helm of this event as the roast master and they opted for none other than Comedian Mpho Popps. This week, more superstar panellists were announced as part of this iconic moment in Mzansi’s media landscape but one that stood out the most was the witty radio personality and podcast sensation Sol Phenduka with social media users dubbing this the “Sol Season.”
Joining the Road of Khanyi Mbau as the final panellists are multi-faceted veteran actor Sello Maake Ka Ncube, Hip Hop’s it girl Nadia Nakai, comedy relief and genius John Vlismas and of course, the larger-than-life Sol Phenduka as well.
They are an addition to the first lineup of panellists announced a few days ago being radio’s best gift Tbo Touch, Cape Townian rapper Youngsta CPT, comedy powerhouse Celeste Ntuli, DStv MVCMA winner SelBeyonce Mkhize, and crime and investigative TV guru Devi Sankaree Govender as well as roast master Mpho Popps.
The who’s who in the local entertainment scene will take on the red carpet tomorrow, the 21 July 2022 at the Theatro Montecasino with limited tickets currently available on Computickets. But if you missed the live show, you will get the chance to watch it as it premiers on Comedy Central and Showmax two weeks later on the 8th of August at 21:00 CAT.
