Hip-hop artist, Kid X recently released his much-awaited debut album, Thank Da King. It comes as a surprise though, that this is his debut album, given the fact that he has been in the music industry for 8 solid years however this body of work was years in the making, with Kid X wanting it to be simply brilliant.

SABC 3’s flagship late night talk show, Trending SA, had the absolute honour of hosting this lyrically gifted hip hop artist last night, and we must say, quite a lot about his personal life was discussed hence not much is known about him, therefore this interview in particular rolled up a curtain behind “uMfana Ka Aunty”.
ZAlebs has therefore compiled Top 5 interesting facts about Kid X that many probably had no idea about.
#1. Childhood:
Kid X was born in Mpumalanga; however his family moved around quite a lot given the nature of his father’s career. The rapper described this constant moving around as a “slippery slope” but has somehow made the most of those experiences.
#2. Lessons from elders:
Kid X’s newly released album saw him collaborate with giants within the world of the arts – Maskandi musicians Shwi Nomtekhala and Ndebele artist, Esther Mahlangu. The rapper described the interactions between himself and Shwi Nomtekhala as a learning experience, adding that there were always some life lessons that he picked up.
#3. Debut Album:
Surprisingly this is his debut album after eight years of being in the music industry. Thank Da King is truly a work of art as the rapper emphasised that he put his heart and soul on this project. The album tells stories on various subjects including relationships, of course.
#4. On showing love on social media he said:
“For me, that is all I know, it also speaks to how I was raised. He continued to add: “Love is a way of nurturing and try to improve a situation”. Kid X is hardly in the tabloids’ for the wrong reasons, therefore it is easy to see why.
#5. On writing lyrics on paper:
“I went back to the basics of writing on paper with a feather pen – just to stimulate my mind”. He then realised the value in his writings and therefore decided to auction them off and the 88% of the proceeds will go to a fund that will build music classes in two of his previous schools.
