Nothing is ever cool about learning that someone has been raped or otherwise sexually assaulted before. This is why our hearts broke for Lady Gaga this morning; a singer with so much life, enthusiasm and incredible talent, revealed she was sexually assaulted as a teenager.

Gaga, speaking on the Howard Stern show, revealed that the incident took place when she was 19 years of age and that her attacker was a man who was not only 20 years older, but within the music industry too.

Gaga also admitted that the incident, which has undoubtedly weighed heavy on her soul and probably continues to do so, was a tough one for her 19 year old self to accept and instead it took her a few years to begin to admit to herself that it actually happened.

"It hit me so hard. I was so traumatized by it that I was like, 'Just keep going,' because I just had to get out of there."

I'm sure a lot of people might have thought "Is this way Gaga is so outspoken and extroverted?" She dismissed that particular notion immediately.

"I'll be damned if somebody's going to say that every creatively intelligent thing that I ever did has boiled down to one dickhead that did that to me"

Props to Gaga for speaking out and standing up! You can hear the audio clip from her interview with Howard Stern below:
