There are many misconceptions about African spirituality and some celebrities have opened up about their 'gift', shedding light on the misguided interpretations and now Lerato opens up about how getting the calling affected her family.
Lerato Mvelase accepted her ancestral gift in 2015 by becoming a traditional healer, but in a recent interview on Metro FM, Lerato revealed how spending six months of training away from her kids was a tough choice she had to make.
"It was very hard on my kids. I mean my kids sleep with me, even today. So for them to wake up and mommy isn’t there...it was very hard for my kids after six months of me being away but kids are very understanding actually. We don’t give them enough credit." she said.
Lerato went on to reveal the harsh impact it had on her oldest daughter who experienced many sleepless nights while she was away.
"My youngest was really struggling, my oldest one would not sleep because of what I was going through. She would kick and fight the whole night and tomorrow the poor child had to go to school. So I had to make her understand that it wasn’t just for me, but for them too."
The actress and singer is now living a positive life, focusing on raising her children and furthering her career.
