Why weren't we keeping this same energy last year?

There is never a dull day in Mzansi, is there? After yesterday's explosive political action, somehow, one woman's name has found its way to the top of the trends list: that of Masechaba Ndlovu.

Yazi, uMasechaba didn't even do anything today. She just woke up, got dressed, minded her own business and proceeded with her plans for the day. And then before she knew it, she was trending across the country.

It was all sparked by a completely separate incident which took place on Thursday night, after Cyril Ramaphosa refused to sit down for an interview with Power FM chairperson Given Mkhari in the evening. The reason? Ramaphosa used Mkhari as an example and took a stand against the controversial station chairperson who has been accused of beating up his wife on a number of occasions. In fact, Ipeleng Mkhari even opened assault charges against him last year after things got out of hand.

In the wake of the president's cancellation, both Given and Ipeleng were quizzed by another journalist, Thulasizwe Simelane, who bluntly asked the question: "Have you ever laid a hand on her?"

Here's how it played out:

So how is Masechaba Ndlovu involved in this mess, you might be wondering. Masechaba also famously called out another abusive personality back in 2018; this time it was Mampintsha, who she exposed for beating Babes Wodumo. The country was shocked and Masechaba was villified for "overstepping" her boundaries. Fast forward to 2019 and when someone else has done the same thing, people have been less critical - and Masechaba's loyal fans want to understand why that is the case.

The comparisons between the two incident were cause for debate on the timeline:

Masechaba has not even bothered to say a word on the latest trend but her name has been all over the timeline this morning as people continue to debate whether or not there was a difference between hers and Thulasizwe's key moments.

Do you think Masechaba Ndlovu should finally be exonerated for intervening in Babes and Mampintsha's romance?
