Minnie Dlamini has been on the receiving end of social media trolling and has admitted that her mental health had taken a knock numerous times. The businesswoman was a recent guest on KFM, where she spoke with presenter Tracey Lange on her mid-morning show, Mid-Mornings with Tracey Lange, where she revealed that her career had taken a slump due to social media trolls.
On the show, Minnie said she often has to remind people that she is human, βIt's hard. Most of the time you realise it's sad people, hurt people people who are trying to get their 15 seconds of fame. You deal with it as logically as you possibly can. I always tell to people I'm still human, I see them and it does hurt,β she said as quoted by TshisaLive.
Some of the rumours and nasty comments have landed her in hot water resulting in loss of business.
βI won't lie, I've lost a lot of business as a result of people making up stories about me. People need to be a lot more cognizant that their words have power and you can destroy livelihoods and homes on statements that aren't true,β she added.
Trolls had insinuated that Minnie Dlamini is not the real owner of the Premium lifestyle Establishment, The Mansion Lounge & Rooftop Bar. YouTuber Musa Khawula claimed that Minnie is not the owner and he had provided 'receipts' in the form of screenshots. In the screenshots from the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, the claim is that Minnie Dlamini is not the director or owner of the establishment.
"Minnie Dlamini doesn't own The Mansion. The Mansion is said to be owned by a group of Afrikaaners who also own Thirsty Fox; Centurion. Minnie Dlamini is used as a front" wrote Musa Khawula in his now suspended Twitter account.
One of the most damning claims which saw her trending for weeks on end, is that she allegedly cheated on her ex-husband Quinton Jones. She was also alleged to be Edwin Sodi's girlfriend but she refuted that.
In a statement, Minnie said, "Without saying much more, all allegations made are false, damaging, and malicious," they refuted all the claims.
"We kindly ask that you allow us to go through our private processes without dragging ourselves, our families, and our loved ones into baseless rumours and social media sensationalism. These baseless rumours affect not only us, but our child."
