This is not the first time Mbuli has been involved in alledeged domestic violence disputes. The poet, is battling his estranged second wife, Thembeka Ndaba, who has a domestic-violence case open against him.
City Press reports that that Mbuli’s girlfriend claims he assaulted her at her home in Vosloorus last Saturday and that the first alleged assault took place at the same house in November 2011.
The woman, has obtained a protection order against Mbuli.
One of the woman’s relatives, who spoke to City Press on condition of anonymity, said Mbuli arrived at the Vosloorus house on Saturday and demanded to see her.
And when she allegedly told him she thought their relationship had fizzled out because they had not been in contact for two months, he pushed her into her car and punched her several times.
“He continued to beat her up even when she begged him to stop,” said the relative.
The relative claimed this was not the first time Mbuli had punched his girlfriend.
“He arrived at her house [in November 2011], took her cellphone and started checking her contact list. He phoned all her male contacts and demanded to know the kind of relationship they had with her. When she asked him why he was calling those people, he lost his cool and beat her up,” the relative alleged.
Speaking to City Press outside the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Mbuli’s girlfriend said: “Yes, I have obtained a protection order against Mzwakhe, but I can’t comment because I’m a private person and this is a private matter.
“Speak to him because he is the celebrity, not me.”
