Pearl’s fans then went in on Lerato and demanded to know why she was being so shady by not returning what does not belong to her?
Some even used the hashtag, “Bring Back the Shades”, when tweeting Lerato.
But Lerato's fans hit back and accused Pearl of embarrassing Lerato on social media.
Pearl told her fans it was just one big joke, and asked them to stop attacking Lerato.
Here’s how the fake twar unfolded:
Lerato innocently posted a picture on Twitter showing off her fab Miu Miu sunglasses.

A few hours later Pearl tweeted:
What am I supposed to be looking at here? And when are you returning my shades? 😞 https://t.co/094hoDWDlE— PEARL THUSI (@PearlThusi) November 3, 2015
*Notice, how Lerato deleted the tweet Pearl was replying to. Hmmm, interesting!
But it seems neither Lerato or Tweeps got the joke:
😂 Your shades? 😂😂 https://t.co/8PB0bNAIZ9— leratokganyago (@leratokganyago) November 3, 2015
Can you not LIE to your fans telling them I'm wearing your shades @PearlThusi ... Get them off my back toe 😕— leratokganyago (@leratokganyago) November 3, 2015
Pearl tried to set the record straight:
PSA: MEANT I LOVE LERATO'S SHADES GUYS. As in i want them to be mine. Can ppl not joke on twitter now. Yoh death. Leave @leratokganyago— PEARL THUSI (@PearlThusi) November 3, 2015
But fans were not buying it…
Those are Pearl Thusi's shades...😂😂😂😂 there's no way she would tweet that out of the blue nje LOL!!!! Lerato Kganyago should return them— Bongani (@Bongy_ZA) November 3, 2015
Well, whether you believe Pearl was joking or not, it is water under the bridge between the two stars.
They’ve kissed and made up, and are probably laughing at the joke gone wrong over a glass of wine.
