Hard work will get you very far in life. Just look at Proverb, who has become one of the country's most sought-after talents.
The musician, TV host and producer has earned his stripes in the industry, and it took him a while to get here. Oh, and nothing was ever handed to him. The rapper knows all about working his way up.
Speaking to Thabo "Tbose" Mokwele on Kaya FM recently, the Idols host and executive producer said: "A lot of things come easy to a lot of people, and that's okay. But nothing has come easy for me."
"So technically you can say I've been chasing the radio dream since 2003. And only when, last year (2016), it started to happen. And that's the moral of my story, and whereas, people can hand a demo in on Wednesday, Thursday he's hosting the breakfast show. You know what, that's all good and well. But for me, it has never come easy, it has never come overnight, not any one thing."
The Kaya FM host revealed that he recorded his first demo on cassette in 1995. "I got my deal in 2004, that's nearly a decade later. It has never come easy," he told Tbose.
