Robbie Malinga recently opened up about his illness and confirmed that he was anemia - a condition in which the blood doesn't have enough red blood cells. He also went on to explain that his body couldn't pump blood anymore due to liver complications.

His extreme loss of weight led to a lot of speculation from the public, but the late singer went on to address that as well.

"It became a joke. People are mean out there. I had lost weight more than this and on social networks they were saying I'm the face of Bio-Slim, it was the funniest thing, I even laughed. People are mean. There are lots of kids on social networks, 16 or 17 year-olds, and for them it's a joke, and it's not a joke. But kids will be kids," said Malinga.

Robbie Malinga passed away on 25 December 2017 at his home in Dainfern, Fourways.
