Samthing Soweto is never one to follow rules that wont afford him the creative freedom that he seemingly thrives on. The Akanamali hit maker was on last night’s episode of SABC 3’s Trending SA, where he explained that he yearns to be more innovative in his approach to connecting with his fans.
When quizzed about this peculiar approach he said: “There is a campaign that I am running, whereby people can get my songs for free, I have two songs that are currently out”. He continued to add: “The music industry has a thing whereby if an artist wishes to release a song at any given time, they are prohibited by so called red tapes in the system, so by sending my songs on WhatsApp, I will get immediate reaction from my fans. I want a real connection with them, so in this way I can call them and inform them about my upcoming gigs and projects.

In his quest for creative freedom, the musically gifted star’s proposal to have his own separate contract whilst still being a part of Acapella group, The Soil was denied, citing that he was ready to go about it alone and not with the group.
