On Monday morning, a 36-year-old man appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate Court in relation to the murder of 25-year-old Sibusiso Khwinana who was the lead actor in a locally produced movie titled Matwetwe.

The murderer appeared on robbery with aggravating circumstances and contravention of the Immigrant Act charges.

Although a large group of journalists were in attendance during the court appearance, the media was forbidden to take any pictures or video footage of the murder accused.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson - Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that the trial has been postponed to the 17th of May 2019, to allow the state to conclude its investigation.

Mjonondwane further explained that the reason why the State has requested the man's identity to not be revealed is because the State still needs to hold an identity parade and it therefore does not want anything that may potentially jeopardize that process.

The Citizen reported that Sibusiso Khwinana's co-actor and friend Tebatsho Mashishi who played the role of Papi in the movie was with Sibusiso on the night he was murdered.

Sibusiso Khwinana's funeral was held at the AFM Rooftop Restoration Centre in Soshanguve Block K over the weekend.

Attendees of the funeral included Gauteng Premier, David Makhura  and the South African Minister of Police - Bheki Cele.
