Reports suggest that The Daily Show Host Trevor Noah’s Mother, owes millions in taxes. Patricia Noah, the mother of the famous comedian, made headlines for allegedly owing South African Revenue Service (SARS) R24 million.
City Press states the various companies she is or was director of including Dempa Investments and Isacchar Properties and has her own company PN Noah Estates.
According to City Press, Patricia allegedly failed to pay off her tax debt and so was given 10 business days to make a decision on how she would pay.
“You may, within 10 business days from the date of this letter of demand, apply for any of the following remedies: payment installments where you are unable to pay the full amount; suspension of the debt where you intend to submit or have submitted a formal dispute; compromise of a portion of the tax where this will provide a higher return to the fiscus than liquidation, sequestration or other collection measures,” City Press quoted the letter sent to her.
Another celebrity caught up in the tax drama is Dr. Malinga who had to ask the public for assistance. Dr. Malinga revealed to Podcast And Chill that in total he owes SARS R500 000.
"After two years, SARS came. I called Minister Nathi Mthethwa, and we talked. Sometimes when I am hungry don't advise that you have to plough, just dish out for me. I am not bad mouthing him, I am talking about what happened. I was calling people that I worked with, but they didn't come to my rescue. They took everything. When you enter my house, if you don't have a heart, you will laugh. My house is empty," he said. "Auction is painful. I was there, I went there, and then I wanted to say 'please is not like I don't want to pay, I don't have money. I am not trending. I don't have songs. I am not being called at gigs and I can't force people to book me," he said.
Dr. Malinga thanked people for assisting from as little as R10. Malinga said the amount that touched him was R10 from a fan who then said 'God bless you my brother.'
“People are donating money. There's an amount that touched me so much, only R10 came to my account with a reference 'God bless you my brother' ... People are blessing me, I'm just overwhelmed... we are reaching 100 000 now.”
Gospel star Lusanda Mcinga broke her silence and pleaded with Mzansi to donate money as she is struggling. "I have a problem. Ever since we had Covid in 2020, 2021, 2022, I haven't been able to record or get any gigs. I'm now struggling to get food but fortunately my child, Betusile is buying food for me. He is the sole breadwinner and gives me from time to time. But it's getting too much for him. I cannot be his burden" wrote Lusanda Mcinga
"All my cars were repossessed during Covid 19. I couldn't pay the bank and they were repossessed. From time to time I get money from friends. Even R200 feels like a million to me, that's how bad things are. My health was also affected and it have never been the same again" said Mcinga
