The Generations actress/singer has expressed never to find herself in such a situation even after getting married and divorcing Lebo M.
While Mzansi Magic reality show Uthando Nes’thembu showed the country that having more than one wife can work, Zoe Mthiyane believes that polygamy is not for her. The Generations: The Legacy actress, was recently interviewed on Zaziwa where she opened up about her life, losing both her parents and growing up in a polygamous home.
Zoe revealed that her late father had five wives. “Each wife had her own home with her kids and dad would visit,” she said.
When asked if she would ever go down that route, she said: “Hell to the no.”
She explained: “Because I grew up in it and I know ama challenges akhona. My father would not encourage that for his children… Ngeke ngikwazi, futhi ngineskhwele…” (I won't be able to I'm a jealous person)
The singer, who was engaged to Lebo M (the couple had a nasty public split), described herself as a hopeless romantic. She said she loves being loved and loves love.
She was then asked how she mends her broken heart, and picks up the pieces. Zoe said it’s hard to rewrite your future because when you have someone and you’ve spoken about marriage or were engaged, you see “10, 15 years down the line.”
“You start making plans. I use the passing of my mom always as a reference to whatever difficult situations I find myself in, in life. And because I survived that, I can survive this.”
She added that she still believes in love. “I am little more cautious, and I have to learn to be more, to be discerning, but I do absolutely believe in love.”
