The first time that Zodwa killed us all in the looks department was when she found the fau-afro hairstyle. The look was unexpected from the usually natural-hair girl-next-door look, which has become a signature for Zodwa. She had complete the hair look with a complete face beat, which if a new hairstyle on Zodwa is bizarre than an entire facebeat to accompany the look floored many.

However, the consensus was a “yes” on the look from her followers. Especially since the look did not veer too far away from the original and signature look.

It was with her second attempt that she seemed to have lost the plot in an attempt to do too much. Zodwa opted to wear a wig or weave- Basically, Zodwa put on hair to cover up her own hair, which did not land well with her followers.

On Instagram, her followers enjoyed dragging and questioning the inspiration for the look. It felt like for a woman that has been clear not to be in competition with slay-queens, had finally ended up in the ring and did not come out on top. Her captions too seemed to suggest that all the Ls she was getting from men were finally getting to her.
However, Zodwa has made a comeback, and as one of her captions stated the good sis definitely came fighting against all the naysayers. Zodwa’s new showcased look takes the success of the first one of the faux-afro and takes it a notch up.  The hairstyle is of a sleek Mohawk that has been accentuated with extensions that are applied on top of the head.
Zodwa took the hair look for a test drive with a friend and popular musician, Dladla Mshunqisi. The two along with friends painted Durban red as they danced the night away. Zodwa is clearly focused on giving us looks and we definitely stan a queen that is dedicated to reinventing herself.

This year has taught us all that life is full of surprises, therefore we can only what Zodwa Wabantu 2021 is going to serve us once she has found her niche in the beauty influencer game.
