Award-winning gospel musician Hlengiwe Mhlaba has opened up about how tight-knit they were with the late Akhumzi Jezile. The gospel star was live on Instagram yesterday with Durban-based socialite Tha Simelane. Tha hosted a Q&A session with the gospel star, about her upbringing and her illustrious music career.
Hlengiwe is famous for her hit song Sewakhile, which has touched the hearts of many and healed scores of people who are going through rough patches in life. On the live chat many of her fans kept on asking her to sing the song, and she said the song is very close to her heart and makes her very emotional. Hlengiwe said the song reminds her of the late Akhumzi because he also loved it.
Hlengiwe said they were very close and he treated him as his son. The renowned TV presenter and producer, might have gone too soon, but he left behind a string of fond and heartwarming memories.
Akhumzi, died in a horrific head-on collision with his friends Siyasanga Kobese, Thobani Mseleni, when they were travelling to the Eastern Cape.
