Kgaugelo Mokholwane is undoubtedly one of this years most-watched rising star, the media personality has been the in entertainment industry for a few months and he has already bagged two shows on SABC 1.
After SABC 1's weekend breakfast entertainment show, Mzansi Insider going on a nation-wide presenter search looking for South Africa's hottest unearthed talent, Kgaugelo came out tops, he bagged the coveted spot and the UCT student is having the time of his life while living his dream.
In an exclusive interview with ZAlebs, Kgaugelo opened up about how his life has changed since he won the SABC 1, Mzansi Insider presenter search, the media personality says that it has been a wonderful experience and he feels honoured to represent the SABC brand, "I still can't wrap my head around the fact that the SABC has chosen me as the ambassador of their brand, and more than anything, it has made me more focused, determined and I appreciate the opportunity that has been given to me ," he said.
Kgaugelo is no stranger to the spotlight, before bagging the Mzansi Insider gig, he was a presenter on SABC 2's, It's for Life, and he credits the show for teaching him a lot about how television works, although Mzansi Insider is his first live show, the experience came in handy when he auditioned for the show.
"I am really stoked about being on Mzansi Insider, I like the fact that I am living out my true personality and that it is live, even when I do make mistakes, I have to make sure that the viewers don't realise, I look at it as a conversation with a friend and I take pride in it being seamless," he explained.
Kgaugelo then went on to add that he would like to be more than just a presenter, "TV is a platform for societal changes, a lot of people watch and idolise us and my goal is to grow as an entrepreneur so that I can make changes in society using my TV platform, for me, it is not just about fame, I would love to inspire and give back."
A couple of weeks ago, SABC announced that Kgaugelo will be hosting a new show, The Remix alongside rapper Rouge, the show sees groups made up of a DJ/Producer, a vocalist and musical performer battle it out, either by scratching, belting out vocals and playing their hardest, to remix some of the world’s most popular hit songs.
The Remix airs on SABC 1 on Sundays at 18h00. It will also feature Mo Flava and Kelly Khumalo on the judging panel.
