South Africa's favourite soapie just became a lot more likeable! It's been announced that Mike Velase will be officially joining the cast of 7De Laan this month. The news serves as a pleasant surprises and announces a big come back for Mike who used to play Khapela Ngcobo on SABC1's Generations . We're not going to comment on the irony of his getting a job at another soapie at this point in time.
Thos who watched Generations will remember that Khapela was a very humble and wise man who always will gave good advice to people. From what we've gathered, Mike's character will be completely different on the SABC 2 flagship soapie; he'll be playing Loyiso, a shrewd businessman.
Mike spoke to the Sunday Sun about his new role and said: “It’s exciting to be a part of the 7de Laan team. When the directors gave me a call, I couldn’t say no to them. The character I’m playing is someone who’s protective of his legacy, family and reputation as a businessman,” he said.
“I’m sure my fans will love watching my character on 7de Laan, because I’m a passionate actor. My comeback to the small screen was way overdue. But I’ve never lost my spark for acting,” he added.
Mike also added that most of his fans have been waiting for a long to see him back on the small screen.
“I have some great projects as far as film is concerned but the future will reveal itself at the right time."
