The news of Mampho’s role in Eraser: Reborn was first announced by popular South African Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela who shared on Twitter, “Casting News: Mampho Brescia is in US filming for HBO Max.” He added that “Mampho plays Marshall Rhodes, a director of the US Marshall services, in Eraser Reborn.”
The reboot of the movie is not too different from its first release. In fact, a lot of inspiration has been drawn from that to make something that is relevant to the present times. The film will be available for streaming exclusively on HBO Max and then later on other services after the broadcasting rights are put on the market.
The fresh take of the 1966 initial release is expected to hit the cinemas on the 7th of June with a storyline that tries to exploit the US Marshall named Mason who is known for rigging the system. The film also stars popular English actor Dominic Sherwood who plays the secret agent Marshall Mason Pollard who specializes in “erasing” people, which simply put, is him faking the deaths of high-risk witnesses that are linked to serious crimes and making sure that he leaves no traceable evidence about their existence. It is directed by John Pogue who also directed movies such as Fast and the Furious and Skull among many others.
“With the technological advances of the last 25 years, the game has upgraded, and it’s just another day at the office when he’s assigned to Rina Kimura, a crime boss’ wife who’s decided to turn state’s evidence. As the two flee to Cape Town, South Africa, with a team of merciless assassins on their trail, Pollard discovers he’s been set up. Double-crossed and fueled by adrenaline, he needs to be at the top of his game, or he’ll be the one who’s erased. Permanently,” IMDB.
The 44-year-old actress has also shared a short trailer of the film on her personal Instagram page urging followers to watch with their loved ones. She captioned the video, “Eraser Reborn drops March 31st on HBO Max. Catch me as Marshall Rhodes in this thrilling action film. Tag a friend you wanna watch this with and I might invite you to my private premiere.”
Mampho is no stranger to the big screens, she has done many movies including District 9, I Am All Girls, and What To Bring To America, and now joins the likes of Thuso Mbedu as one of the leads in an American movie.
