While twins are known to enjoy an even closer bond than the average siblings, Olwethu and Owami have taken things to the extreme, at least according to their loved ones, who want them to start living their lives as individuals rather than as a unit.
Born in Vosloorus, the 31-year-old sisters’ tough childhood brought them even closer than expected- so close that they were married the same man for nine years. Now divorced and with daughters born two months apart fathered by the ex-husband, the twins are on a journey to accept their spiritual calling as prophets – and to find a new husband.
“Shows centered around family trial and tribulations never get old and are always fascinating to observe – more so when the blood ties are as unique and as deep as the ones in Twice as Bold. We’re sure our audience will love this duo as we see them navigate motherhood, careers, spirituality and of course love,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.
Raised by their grandmother, over the season, we’ll also follow the sisters as they navigate a tricky relationship with their birth mother and spiritual mother all this while also navigating the dating scene with the end goal to find a husband who will marry them both.
Will any man put a ring on both their fingers, or will the sisters have to accept what everyone is telling them – that it’s time to live separate lives? Speaking to SowetanLIVE, the twins say they divorced their husband two years agoas he became too abusive.
"Our ex husband became abusive both physically and emotionally. He didn’t care that there were two of us, he would abuse us to a point of physical abuse,” Olwethu told the publication.
They also found out that he had 12 children and one married to another wife. “Olwethu suggested that we leave the marriage but we thought ‘better the devil we know’. We decided to play the game to benefit ourselves and were always on the lookout for an exit point,” said Owami.
Olwethu said she remembers how he almost killed them after wanting to set the house on flames. “I remember this one day when he almost killed us, pouring petrol around the house but thank God he didn’t find a match and that is how we were saved. We have a protection order against him,” said Olwethu.
We look forward to their reality show.
