Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, who is better known by his moniker, Nasty C, is without a doubt one of the best and most celebrated rappers in Mzanzi. At only 25 years old, the recording artist  has a long list of accolades under his belt and recently added to that list by achieving his second BET hip-hop nomination. In addition to his long list of achievements, the lyricist also has a lot of ink and some have even gone as far as saying that he has a tattoo addiction, and so we decided to take a look at Nasty C’s tattoos.

Many of us, celebs included, get tattoos for various reasons, for aesthetics, to commemorate or remember an important person or event, and as a symbol to reflect a religious, cultural or life belief. Some of these pieces are small whereas others are huge striking pieces.

Although we won’t cover all of them, here are some of Nasty C’s tattoos and the meaning behind them.

IVYSON Tattoo

Tattoo: The rapper has tattooed the word IVYSON on his right hand

Meaning: The tattoo is a play on words that represents his first tour and is also a tribute to his late mother. He explained how he came up with the Ivyson tour name and stated that his mother's name was Ivy and he is her son, hence the word play and name Ivy-son.

Left Hand Tattoo

Tattoo: On his right hand, Nasty C has a tattoo of three symbols, an eye, the letter V and a sun.

Meaning: All together, the three symbols spell out Ivyson (Eye-V-Sun) . Just like his IVYSON tattoo on his right hand, this one also represents his first tour and is a tribute to his first love, his mother Ivy.

Eye and Vine Tattoo

Tattoo: The rapper has a big piece on his left forearm and the upper part of the arm has a huge tattoo of an eye. The eye has some birds flying over it and a huge vine covers the rest of his forearm below the eye.

Meaning: The tattoo represents his first tour as a recording artist, The Ivyson Tour. The vine in the tattoo is an Ivy Vine.

Ying Yang Tattoo

Tattoo: Nasty C has two Ying Yang tattoo symbols, one tattooed on each shoulder.

Meaning: Yin and yang is a Chinese philosophical concept that describes how seemingly opposing or contrary forces in the natural world can actually be complementary, interrelated, and interlinked, and how they can give rise to each other as they connect directly to one another.

DNA Tattoo

Tattoo: A tattoo of a DNA symbol intertwined with tree roots can be found on the left side of Nasty C’s stomach. Within the DNA symbol there is also a shield inspired design.

Meaning: The piece is a tribute to his culture and Zulu heritage. The DNA tattoo symbolizes his roots as a Zulu man and showcases the pride he has in his tribe and culture. The shield design is also inspired by Zulu weaponry.

Skull Tattoo

Tattoo: The rapper has a huge skull tattooed on his upper part of his left arm. The tattoo has finer designs within it like a clock, a metal tube and a quote.
Meaning: Although we are not entirely sure of the meaning behind this piece, skulls often broadly represent death, and the person wearing it usually uses it to symbolize the fact that death does not frighten them. It also serves as a reminder
that death is unavoidable, so we should always live life to the fullest.
