Former Kwara United striker Wasiu Alalade has rejected claims that his departure from the club was acrimonious, saying his switch abroad was simply the next stage of his growth as a footballer.
Now playing professionally in Iraq, the forward added that Kwara United will always hold a special place in his life and career, even though he has moved on.
“I will continue to be part of Kwara United. Leaving the club is a sign of progress and development in my football career,” Alalade said.
The ex-under-23 international also highlighted the influence of both Kwara United and ABS FC, describing them as key platforms that helped shape his journey and enable him to reach success.
Alalade made the comments after taking part in a novelty game that featured players drawn from Kwara-based teams and foreign-based professionals at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl.
He commended the organisers for putting together the event, noting that it created a valuable opportunity for players to connect and encouraged unity across the wider football community.
In his view, moments like that should be repeated, arguing that they help build stronger relationships and motivate younger players to stay focused on their dreams.
Most recently, he underlined his support for grassroots development by donating match balls, jerseys and training equipment to clubs in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, as part of efforts to help nurture emerging talent in his community.
