Nigeria’s Under-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have been handed a short recovery window before the last phase of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign after seeing off Guinea in emphatic fashion on aggregate.

Flamingos cruise past Guinea

Coach Akeem Busari’s squad completed the job with a dominant two-legged tie, finishing Guinea with an 11-0 total score over both matches.

  • Nigeria opened the tie with a 5-0 win away from home.
  • The Flamingos then followed up with a 6-0 victory in the home match played in Ikenne.

Final qualifying round: Nigeria vs Benin

With the Guinea hurdle cleared, Nigeria now turns its attention to the final qualifying round, where it will take on the Benin Republic. A spot at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco is the prize for the winners of this stage.

Benin, meanwhile, booked its place by overcoming Sierra Leone, running out 5-1 on aggregate across the two legs.

Match dates confirmed for the decisive ties

The schedule for the concluding qualifying round is already set, with the first legs scheduled across July 3 to July 5, followed by the return fixtures from July 10 to July 12.
