Liverpool are believed to be interested in Yan Diomande, but the 19-year-old winger would reportedly rather move to Paris St-Germain, with the French champions looking to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig over the coming weeks.
The Reds’ first offer this month was turned down, with Liverpool proposing £69m plus an additional £17m in add-ons for the Ivory Coast international.
RB Leipzig are expected to set their asking price at around £129m for Diomande. The player joined the Bundesliga club from Spanish side Leganes last summer and signed a five-year contract.
Leipzig maintain they are not under financial pressure to sell and say they are ready to improve Diomande’s terms in order to keep him for at least another season.
At PSG, summer recruitment is being driven by chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, sporting adviser Luis Campos and manager Luis Enrique. The club’s goal is to bring in one or two major additions to a squad that secured back-to-back Champions League successes and another Ligue 1 title last season.
Any incoming business may be offset by departures. Striker Goncalo Ramos is expected to head to AC Milan on a deal valued at roughly £63m, while additional exits—including midfielder Lee Kang-in and forward Randal Kolo Muani—are also anticipated.
Liverpool are also known to have an eye on France winger Bradley Barcola, though discussions in Paris suggest PSG are keen to extend his contract rather than sell.
Liverpool meanwhile have already made a signing this month, bringing in Spain winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34.5m. It is the club’s first move since Andoni Iraola took over as head coach following Arne Slot.
