Repairs follow forced outage
TCN disclosed that it had fixed the Alaoji–Owerri 132 kilovolt transmission lines 1 and 2, enabling restoration in Rivers, Imo and Bayelsa. TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah made the announcement in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The restoration comes after TCN had earlier announced a forced outage affecting its Alaoji transmission line on Tuesday. That disruption led to electricity supply disturbances in the three states.
Lines energized and distribution companies able to off-take
In its Wednesday update, TCN said the affected transmission lines were energized after repairs were completed successfully. The company added that the relevant distribution utilities could resume taking power to supply end users.
TCN stated that Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) can off-take electricity for customers in Imo, Yenagoa, and Rivers (including Ahoada). It also said that with both transmission lines restored, the Alaoji–Owerri corridor is operating at full capacity, allowing EEDC and PHEDC to forward the full load to their customers for onward distribution.
