Yayi Youth Group Vows 5,000 Votes for Ogun Central Governor Bid in 2027

Politics

The head of a youth political group, Comrade Adekunle Oyatope—widely referred to as Danku Yayi—said over the weekend that his organisation has spent the past two years building support for Olamilekan Solomon Adeola’s bid for governor. The disclosure was made during a prayer gathering held in connection with Senator Yayi.

Mobilisation and election preparations

  1. During the Sunday prayer session, Danku Yayi said the group has been working for two years to mobilise backing for Senator Yayi’s governorship ambition.
  2. He claimed that in the Ogun Central senatorial district, the We Yayi Faithful Boys are promising the APC more than 5,000 votes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
  3. He said the group has also encouraged members to secure their Permanent Voter Cards, stressing that PVCs are necessary for voting in the upcoming elections.
  4. Danku Yayi added that members who do not yet have PVCs are assisted to register at the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission, so they can participate in voting for Senator Yayi and other APC candidates.

Ogun State’s Commissioner for Forestry, Hon. Taiwo Oludotun, told members to campaign for APC candidates across the board. He said supporters should ensure large turnouts for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Yayi and other APC candidates, arguing that enthusiasm for Yayi should be matched with effort for the wider party slate.

Meanwhile, Hon. Akeem Oluseye, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, described the Faithful Boys as a platform intended to bring together young people in Ogun Central. He urged participants to remain focused on the group’s core mission of maintaining peace and keeping the district organised before and after the election.

Oluseye also warned against complacency, saying the group should not ignore the opposition and must continue working hard to secure more votes than in the previous election.

Hon. Olufemi Adiro, the Commissioner for the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, emphasised the need for mobilisation at the grassroots level. He said the key priority is Senator Yayi’s emergence as governor, adding that supporters should go back to their wards and begin active work for his candidacy as well as for all APC candidates.

Macgregor, Secretary of Caucus 7202 in Ogun State, further called for voter participation. He urged residents to obtain their PVCs as the way to demonstrate support for Senator Yayi.

Oluwagbenga Adeyemi, Assistant Secretary of the Yayi Faithful Boys, highlighted the importance of prayer. He said the purpose of the prayer for Senator Yayi is to put God first, and he urged members to take the message of Senator Yayi to their respective local governments.

The prayer event was led by Islamic scholars, with Sheikh Sa’ad Bamigbola, the Chief Imam of Egbaland, heading the delegation. Sheikh Satar Ademoye, popularly known as Ya Satar, was among those who joined the prayer.
