Not so long ago, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa thanked the gender-based violence activists for supporting her at the Randburg Magistrates court after she opened a case against her ex-husbandBlack Coffee this year. Enhle accused Black Coffee of physically assaulting her at the birthday party that took place at the marital home.
According to Enhle, the abuse started in 2014 and a few weeks ago she filed for a protection order against her ex-husband. Her order read: “Two incidents happened this weekend, Friday and Sunday. On the 5th of March, he drove into our home and asked to have a conversation that I agreed to. He was polite until we were alone. Nathi asked me why I was throwing a dinner without his permission. I then asked why I needed his permission, and he said because it’s his house. I then told him it’s our home and am puzzled, he then threatened to call the cops to shut it down. He was at this point shouting…and the guests that had already arrived were watching”.
The actress then decided to take a stand and speak out about the abuse. Not only that, but the mother of two is also helping other women to stand and use their voices as Gender has taken so many women’s lives.
However, Black Coffee didn’t take the accusation lightly, he finally spoke up. The award-winning DJ took to Twitter and shared his side of the story. In a thread, he wrote: “In the name of respect and dignity for my family and my children I've been quiet but now I feel a need to speak. GBV is major issue in our country, every day we read about horrendous crimes committed by men against women and children. I personally grew up witnessing GBV in my own household and from a young age, I vowed never to allow that to happen again under any circumstances. I DID NOT assault Mbali, the mother of my children. I didn’t do it now and I have never done It before”.
He went on and wrote: “It is truly regrettable that she has chosen to mislead the public using the name of GBV and seeking a protection order against me to separate me from my children and our home. Divorce is never easy but for us, it has been especially painful and I've spent the last 3 years in and out of intense therapy to deal with it privately. Everyday I am attacked by relentless lies and falsehoods. I DID NOT ASSAULT HER. As a law-abiding citizen, I will absolutely observe the demands of the interim order but will categorically oppose the permanent installation of its prescripts and this is why we are currently in court”.
The DJ’s Twitter followers showed their support and that they believe him.
The Rockville star recently posted on her Instagram she is the ambassador of the Winnie Mandela Cup for 2021. In her caption, she wrote: "I’m so proud and filled with joy to announce I am the ambassador of the @winnie_mandela_cup2021. I pledge to in my personal life and career to stand up against GBV. Pledge to be a Minnie Winnie in the fight, as that’s what the cup stands for".
