Connie Chiume is a multi-award-winning veteran South African actress who has enjoyed a long and successful career in film, television, and theatre.
She is best known for playing the role of Mamokete Khuse in the popular South African television soap opera, Rhythm City, and appearing in the international films, Black Panther and its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
But while Connie Chiume is a renowned personality, very little is known about her personal life including her family and relationships.

According to several sources, Connie Chiume was once a married woman and some sources claim that she was married between 1985 to 2004.

Connie Chiume’s children

While the identity of Connie Chiume’s ex-husband remains a mystery, the actress is a proud mother and grandmother who adores her family.
She is reportedly the mother of four children including Itumeleng “Tumi” Chiume who is a businessman, Nongelo Chiume who is an award-winning booking agent, a PR practitioner, events manager and talent manager, and Nothando Naledi Mabuza, an arts practitioner, actress and musician.
Connie Chiume is also a dotting grandmother and she always gushes on her children and grandchildren on her social media.

Connie Chiume’s parents and background 

Connie Temweka Gabisile Chiume was born on June 5, 1952, in Welkom, in the Free State province. Her father was the late Wright Tadeyo Chiume who was originally from Usisya, Nkhata Bay, Malawi and her mother was the late MaNdlovu who hailed from KwaZulu Natal.
Not much is known about Connie Chiume’s siblings although one of her cousins,  Ephraim Mganda Chiume, is a renowned politician in Malawi.
Connie Chiume grew up in Welkom and she completed her matric in the Eastern Cape. She went on to pursue a degree in teaching in 1976 and graduated in 1976.
She taught for around 11 years before quitting and travelling to Greece where she stayed briefly.
Upon her return to South Africa, Connie Chiume landed a role on Inkom’ Edla Yodwa in 1989, where she played Thembi. She also appeared in the 1990 film, Warriors from Hell. In 2000, she won the award for Best Actress in a Drama Series at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). 
She rose to national fame when she played Stella Moloi in SABC 1 drama series Zone 14, winning her second SAFTA Award for the role.
Since launching her career, Connie Chiume has played a good number of roles in various shows and films. Some of her notable roles are in local shows including Zone 14, Rhythm City, Queen Sono, and Gomora.
She has also been cast in some big local films including Fanie Fourie’s Lobola, Seriously Single, and What Did You Dream? 
Beyond the borders, Connie Chiume has had appearances in the American superhero film Black Panther and its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
