The Fergusons have been giving us a little bit of access to their private yet busy lives and fans got to learn a bit more about them.  In 2020, they celebrated 19 years of marital bliss. Connie and Shona Ferguson are what many think of as couple goals as they have built an empire with their thriving television and film production business. They have also made their daughters and grandson a center of their worlds and all of that is evident in their social media posts.

Whilst this year has been utter turmoil for most, the Fergusons managed to stay winning in all aspects of their lives – especially as the industry’s most notable power couple. They are both critically acclaimed actors who have used their talents to create solidify their empire. They launched their production company, Ferguson Films. The company has produced multiple hit series for Mzansi Magic, which includes Rockville, iGazi, The Gift, The Throne, The Herd, The Queen, and The Imposter.

This year, Shona took a step back from acting and cemented himself as a producer, spending more time behind the camera than in front. The Queen continues to be rated as one of the most watch shows in Mzansi, and proves their dominance as the top producers in the country.

The highlight of the year for The Fergusons is arguably when they announced that their highly anticipated six-part series, Kings Of Jo’burg would premiere on Friday, 4 December 2020.

Netflix SA released a statement and in the words of one of the cast member, Shona Ferguson he explains what the series entails.

When I created KINGS OF JOBURG I wanted to root the show in elements of love, family, conflict and power. The premise of the series is centred around the question, “Am I my brother's keeper?” and this narrative is explored in all 6 episodes. The mystical and thriller side of the story is inspired by the folk tales that I grew up learning about from my late father, Peter Harry Ferguson."

"These stories kept me up at night and gave me nightmares but I had to bring them to life in a tale of human conflict. Audiences will be surprised to learn that despite the darkness of this story, Kings of Joburg, paints a beautiful picture of the city of Johannesburg. I am also grateful to have worked with such an amazing cast and crew who gave it their all and helped bring my vision to life," he explained.

 His wife Connie Ferguson
added that with this series they are taking Mzansi and Africa to the world.

“We’re living in exciting times where the world is becoming smaller and smaller. What used to be out of reach is now a stone throw away! With Kings Of Joburg, we are taking South Africa and Africa to the world and bringing the world to South Africa. It’s the United States Of The World show, bringing together talent from America and the continent! It was an honor to work with Netflix to bring to life this passion project we are truly proud of, ” she explained.
