Mzansi's 'It' girl, Sho Madjozi was criticized a great deal for her speech at this year's SAMAs.
Many women (read feminists) felt she was giving her ex-boyfriend too much credit when she dedicated a song to him in her acceptance speech... but there's no formula to this healing thing, guys.
Many months later and Sesi Madjozi is still winning! We are talking a BET Award, a performance on A Colors Show (only the 4th South African to be on the show), one of the biggest songs in Africa right now - with recognition from John Cena, TWICE.
Clearly our girl is working hard and when TshisaLIVE interviewed her over this weekend, she spoke unreservedly about all of her major milestones and her love life.
She explained that it gives her great joy that people love her music so much and have realised just how organic her material is.
Speaking about her hit song, John Cena, she said: “It’s crazy that I got a shout out from John Cena who I used to watch on TV. Seeing that I was living in the village with my aunt, we didn’t really have a TV at home. The only time we were able to watch TV was when we watched Generations and WWE.”
The Huku hitmaker also described her music as 'heartbreak gqom'and shaid that the song was about someone not seeing her like John Cena. Although social media was once convinced that she and Sjava are dating, she admitted that when it comes to matters of the heart she is single and ready to give love a chance.
“I don't want to play hard to get anymore. I want to be with someone who I feel for, genuinely.”
